The Basics
If you want to apply for a Schwarzman Scholarship in China, you should know that these scholarships are given out by merit. They’re exclusively for students who have high potentials and exceptional academic records, as well as great extracurricular achievements. For example, if you’re applying from America, your average GPA should be above 3.7.
And if you’re applying from China itself, your HSK level should be above 5 (higher than level 4). Also, applicants must not have received any government-funded scholarship before; it’s also important that they’ve never worked for Chinese government agencies or companies; there’s an age restriction too – no one under 18 is allowed to apply. But aside from those criteria, anyone can apply!
Scholarship Criteria
The program was established in collaboration with The Ministry of Education of China, National Development and Reform Commission of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Other joint efforts include Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University and Beihang University.
On May 14th 2013 it was announced that Schwarzman Scholars would be a new degree-granting program at Tsinghua, making it one of only six American liberal arts colleges in China with an American undergraduate degree-granting program. Applications were due on September 20, 2022. Awardees will matriculate at any one of five participating institutions in Beijing starting fall semester 2022 (Tsinghua University or Peking University); Shanghai; Shenzhen; Hong Kong or Taipei.
